A Summer Day In My Writing Life

How many ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of the book? What does the author do while writing? Well, I can’t answer these questions for everyone but I can answer them for me. Right now things are pretty busy. As a self published author all of the promotion for the Silenced Series is on me and my street team. So, I’m in the process of organizing a blog tour that's coming up next month. I am planning a blurb reveal for the 26th of August. I am organizing my street team a bit more which will help me the promotion aspect of writing.

A typical day for me goes like this. Around seven thirty in the morning I wake to the alarm screaming at me with a text, which is my sign to get my butt out of bed. Although I don’t want to because of my lack of getting to bed early the night before, I roll out of bed. I stumble down the stairs to my kitchen and put on some coffee. The baby sitting for my best friend begins.

While waiting for my coffee, I change Baby Girl's diaper and feed her breakfast. This is also when I plan what I’m going to aim to get done during the day. Around eight thirty I wake my daughter to help prepare her for the start of the new school year.

I feed my daughter her breakfast and while baby is sleeping, I begin doing a bit of book work. I do some promotion with my books Silenced and The Overtaking. Answer questions from my street team members. Read. Write. Eat. I do this until Baby Girl wakes up from her nap and then it's time to feed her again.

We play a little and watch a bit of TV or I clean.

Then dinner and more writing or reading. Get my daughter into bed. Then read or write.

Really nothing exciting going on over here on my end. Just way overloaded with promotion, writing, and reading. Fun fun.

Even though this sounds like a bit of work... I love it. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love what I do and I’m proud of it.

  1. Almost sounds like my day! Get up even though I do not want to, feed the kids, play, clean, then fix dinner. When Abigail does sleep bubba gets my time. Then at bedtime I get Abigail to sleep then I read and put bubba to bed and the day starts all over again.
