Silenced 2: The Overtaking Book Trailer

About her books: Background and Purpose
Many times I have been asked why I decided to write the Silenced Series. The most simple way to put it is that it's part of my story. Throughout my teen years, I battled depression and anxiety and I fought the battle of self-harm. I feel that most people do not take this kind of battle serious, therefore disregarding the signs of someone indirectly crying out for help. My goal for The Silenced Series is to create awareness.

About the Series
SILENCED

What people think of Silenced:
" an excellent and important book. It brings teen depression and the phenomenon known as cutting to the forefront and could let someone with these maladies know that they aren't alone with what they are feeling."

"This book kept me very intrigued though it is a very triggering book."

" This book doesn't feel very polished, and I like that. Coming from a place of experience this book covers cutting in a very real way. It isn't a quick fixed glamorized problem and this doesn't make it seem that way unlike some other books that I have read on the topic."

SILENCED: THE OVERTAKING

What people think of The Overtaking....

" This book has more than only a few vital themes that makes it a must read. It explores the act of cutting as a coping mechanism in all its dark gruesome truth. The author never backs down, never glosses over it. Never makes it other than it is."

"...gives insight into mental illness and helps others to know that it is ok to get help with it."

"Book 1 & 2 has opened my eyes to a world I could never imagine"

Self Harm and God's Love

I full heartedly support those who are fighting the battle of depression and self-harm, hence my book Silenced and The Overtaking. Therefore, I want to share a few things about this subject and God. I feel that God has called me, through my writing, to help spread His word. God loves us. He loves us regardless of our past sins and there isn't a thing in this world that you could do to make Him stop loving you.

When a person feels they need to hide because of pain, this is a sign to seek Jesus. Self-harm included. Now this can include many different forms, which include cutting, burning, or any other types of activities that hurt our body.

I understand that we are living in a broken and sinful world who is working on removing God from it. Satan is at work and tries to make us believe the lies he whispers in our ears. He understands that no matter how many times we use self-harm, it's not going to fulfill us like we need. He wants us to believe that we are alone in this struggle and that no one cares.

I want you to understand that if you're fighting this struggle, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Take note at this. God is NOT mad at you for your actions. He sees the pain you're struggling with on a daily basis. God is deeply saddened by the fact that his child is in pain. He loves you and is patient with your struggles. He is there waiting for you to ask Him to help you. He wants to change your life and show you, true love. All you have to do is ask.

Psalm 139: 13 & 14 says, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

This means that God knows everything about you. He knows your thoughts before you even think them. He knows your heart. He created you before you even came to be and he loves you. Just like any father, He cares and doesn't want to see you hurt. Therefore, all you have to do is ask Him for his help.

I assure you, He can deliver you and He will!

Self Injury Awareness Day

Will you see the emotional scars?

Self Injury Awareness Day
is today March 1, 2014!

***********

Self Injury Awareness Day - Self-injury or self harming is when a person deliberately hurts themselves physically to deal with the emotional pain they are suffering.

When it comes to self-harm, cutting is thought of as the main way people hurt themselves. But burning, bruising and scratching are amongst other methods used by people who are distressed.  Another misconception is that it's mainly teenage girls that use this coping mechanism - but it also includes people of both sexes and all ages, races and backgrounds.  So why do it?

This mechanism can provide people with a sensation that 'breaks feelings of numbness'.  This emotional pain is caused by issues such as low-self esteem, trauma, perfectionism and abuse.   A person can go on suffering like this while telling no-one and feeling uable to break the cycle.  So how can you help and raise awareness?

Firstly print out a fact sheet, depending on who you are and how you want to help.  From parents and friends, to pamphlets for males and teachers, there is unique advice available for everyone.  Hand these out, or pin them up and use the online templates to send letters off to radio shows or your local MP.  For more information, go to the Self Injury Awareness Day website.

The Silenced Series by Rae-Beth McGee-Buda

Here's what some are saying about this page turning series...

"I think people need to read this book and get a perspective on what actually happens and how depression affects us all!" - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced)

"This is one of the most wicked books that I have ever read. Some of the scenes will make you shudder and want to throttle the main character to her senses."- Amazon Reviewer (Silenced)

"The book in no way promotes self-harming and identifies some of the risks of it. As a parent it also makes you think about how when you think you are doing the right thing by your kids, it may not be what they interpret." - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced)

"I recommend this to anyone reader who loves Christian suspicion or just wants to read for fun."- Amazon Reviewer (Silenced 2: The Overtaking)

"I think I connected with Amber in a way, fighting the urge of being depressed and not always accepted by the ones you love. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to find who is true family and friends. Learning to love yourself for you and having faith you won't cave under pressure.
Out of the whole book the ending was my favorite, because it goes to show you can overcome all things through Christ.  " - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced 2: The Overtaking)

"The title of the book says it all. You can overcome anything through family, friends, support, and most of all Jesus. The ending was a great little twist for me and though it was perfect for this story. This author did a terrific job." - Amazon Reviewer (Silenced 2: The Overtaking)

Wrapping It Up- Silenced Series Blog Tour

Wow, it's been an amazing month and an incredible blog tour. I want to thank each blogger who participated in the tour and made it an amazing experience for me and the followers. I want to give a special shout out to those who filled in when needed.

The Pink Bookshelf for the Excerpt and Review.
Kats Read for the Feature

You guys are amazing and I love you. Thank you for jumping in when I needed you, <3

For those who followed and commented, I really appreciate it. I wanted to see how successful the tour would be without a giveaway and I must say that it succeeded. I think this blog tour was a better turn out than any tour I had.

As an author, I dislike seeing each tour out there offering a giveaway. I think that if an author feels they need to do a giveaway, then their not really seeing who is there for the books or the prizes. So once again, thank you to those who followed my tour.

Blog Tour Stop for the Silenced Series (Day #28)

Welcome to my blog. It's great to see the Fans of Silenced stop on by at the home blog of the author who wrote the series. For this stop, we have an interview from a fan and their review. Enjoy!!!

Interview:

1 - Did you always want to be an author?
No I didn’t always want to be an author. I loved writing but it was more for me at first. My younger sister inspired me to continue with a short story I wrote in high school for an assignment. When I finished the story she told me I had talent for writing fiction and should really consider writing more stories.
2 - What inspired you to write?
As I said in the first question my younger sister started the inspiration for writing. Now everyday life inspires me.
3 - Why did you choose to write on this particular subject?
Depression is looked at as a condition that some people think isn’t serious. Some think cutting is an act of one trying to gain attention. But these are wrong. Depression and self harm are serious conditions. I think it’s time to stop hushing the subject and it’s time to start talking about it. Education on depression and self harm need put out there. People need to be aware. They need to know the warning signs. This could potentially save the live of a loved one when the subject isn’t hushed and people talk openly about it.
4 - What would be the one suggestion you would give to the people going through depression?
Never give up. You can overcome it and there are people out there that will listen. People want to help you. You are not alone. It’s not in your head and if you are starting to have suicidal thoughts... PLEASE talk to someone you trust.
5 - Is the next book going to be out soon? ;)
The Overtaking has been released. Readers can find it on Amazon in ebook form and in paperback.
6 - Are there any other books/series that you are working on?
Yes! I’m writing several different books. I'm about to publish the story of my daughter, Dakota and our journey to her becoming an angel.  Anther one I'm working on is a paranormal series. The others I’m just keeping to myself for now. It’s a while off before the others are ready to be put out there.
7 - What message would you like to give to our followers and readers?
I appreciate you taking the time to read this interview. I want to thank you all for your support. You’re the reason I write and I’m doing what I love. I wouldn’t be able to do it without you. Each and every person who has supported me and the future support system I will have ... You’re amazing.

Fan Review of Silenced:

Silenced follows the story of Amber Brown. For her life seems to be going down a downward spiral. She had to leave her town and move and on top of that she finds out that the person she called her father isn’t really her biological father. Overcome with depression and looking for a way out Amber does something that gives her an escape from all the pain and darkness. Silenced is a story that shows how depression affects a person and that it CAN be overcome. I found that I could connect with the story. Being a teenager is tougher than it was before. The pressure to do well, to score good grades, to have a good social life – is daunting. And going through all that while going through depression is harder. It doesn’t just go away and the fact that the author captured that in the book was amazing. The topic which the book is focused around is one of those close to my heart and it’s not something we should take lightly It gives an insight into the mind of a cutter... I think people need to read this book and get a perspective on what actually happens and how depression could ruin someone if it gets too far.
